Welcome to the 2024 Quilt Gallery!

What a year 2024 has been for my sewing room! I'm thrilled to share that I completed 32 projects this year. My goal is always to have a beautiful backlog of projects ready for their quilting transformation. In fact, I just finished the hand-stitching on two pieces and am already eyeing my next evening companion from my ample collection – there's always something to satisfy that creative itch!

At the end of 2024 I had five projects actively in the stitching process. These include two of Bonnie Hunter's delightful Winter Mysteries, "Indigo Way" and "Old Town (Starowka)," alongside "Snowman Society" from the 2024 Jolly Box from Fat Quarter Shop. The other two are busy becoming the sashing that will bring individual stitched blocks into cohesive quilt tops.

My fabric stash management journey, which began way back in July 2010, continues to be a fun and fascinating endeavor. Each week, I track my fabric usage and purchases, finding it genuinely exciting to see materials transform into finished projects. This year, I managed to move a remarkable 269 yards of fabric through my sewing room! While I did bring in 148 yards (mostly to complete specific projects), I'm proud to report a net usage of 121 yards. Since officially retiring in July, my sewing productivity has absolutely soared, increasing my net fabric usage by nearly one and a half times compared to 2023. So yes, you could say I've been very busy with my needle and thread!

I'm also making significant progress on my UFOs (Unfinished Objects) from previous years – a grand quest that will see its own dedicated 2025 list soon! Plus, I'm even tackling projects that have never had the dubious honor of making it onto a UFO list. Can you imagine a world with no UFOs? A quilter can dream! Retirement has also opened up my schedule, allowing me to attend more wonderful sewing events. There's nothing quite like having a free calendar for all things quilty!
